Does God's forgivness depend on people?

I wonder how much involvment people have in the saving grace of God. The evangelicals would have you believe that people are primary in the spreading of the gospel, which leads to people being saved. The charismatics, on the other hand, throw around words like "co-laborers." What does it take to be saved? Is the salvation of Jesus dependant on His people or His redeeming act on the cross? Is the work 80% the people of God and 20% God, or is it 20% God's people and 80% God? But isn't the point that Jesus died? He said it was finished. The Bible states that there is no name under heaven but Jesus that can save (Acts 4:12)! Could it be that God's forgiveness and salvation is dependant only on God? Extreme Calvinists would have you believe that all humankind is destined by God for heaven or hell. This does not make sense because Jesus said that hell is made for the devil and his angels (Matthew 25:41). Then I thought, but what about the variable of free will? Don't people have the choice to accept Jesus and walk with Him or not accept Jesus and live a purposeless-life? Remember that Jesus said to "go and make disciples of all nations." He did not say go and make everyone say this sinner's prayer. Could there be more to salvation than what we think?
